- Demonstrators march on Mother's Day, 1969 in support of the Charleston hospital workers' strike. Police chief Conroy speaks to representative of Reverend Ralph Abernathy with concerns as the march was supposed to begin earlier. Abernathy answers questions while marching. He emphasizes the need to negotiate, says nothing can be won through violence. Demonstrators from the AFL-CIO getting off bus, holding signs. Mary Moultrie marches with Ralph Abernathy, Walter Reuther of United Auto Workers Union (on Moultrie's right), and Juanita Abernathy. Marchers holding hands and singing. Andrew Young answers questions while marching. Says that the "community supports these strikers, and support is building...The longer it stretches out, the stronger we get...We should overcome soon."
