- Search and rescue operations in the aftermath of the crash of Eastern Air Lines Flight 212 near Charlotte, North Carolina. Footage depicts workers among wreckage and debris from the DC-9 passenger jet, and removal of victims' remains. 69 of the 82 people on board were killed in the crash, and three of the initial survivors later died of their injuries. Many of the deceased were South Carolina residents, including Wayne Seal (news director for WCIV-TV and former press secretary to S. C. Governor Robert McNair), and Dr. James Colbert Jr. (vice president of academic affairs at the Medical University of South Carolina).
