- Description:
- Burt Neubone, assistant director of the ACLU, explains the details of impeachment. He clarifies that it does not mean the president must automatically leave office, but that impeachment is simply an accusation of wrongdoing. It is the "bringing of a charge" by the House of Representatives and "permitting the president his day in court, his day in the Senate, to answer those charges." Neubone notes that while the accusations may eventually require the president to resign, that would follow his conviction in the Senate.
