- Description:
- Harry Dent comments on his expectation that President Nixon plans to resign [following the public release of evidence of Nixon's involvement in the Watergate cover-up]. He also states that he will not join "the lynching bee of those who are calling" for Nixon's resignation. Dent refers to Nixon as "the first man in my lifetime who has brought dignity back to the South," and "the best friend we [the South] have ever had in the White House. Expresses his belief that "Gerald Ford will be a first rate president." Nixon announced his resignation later that evening, effective the following day, August 9, 1974.
