- Biography:
- Mississippi farmer and civil right activist. On April 9, 1963, he and thirteen other African Americas tried to register to vote Lexington, Mississippi. The "First Fourteen" took a literacy test, and the circuit clerk failed them. Turnbow was a Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party delegate at the 1964 Democratic National Convention.
