- Biography:
- African American clergyman and civil rights worker. He served as Martin Luther King, Jr.';s assistant at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1960and would return to Alabama in 1964 when he became pastor of First African Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Rogers worked closely with the SCLC.
