- Biography:
- An African American sailor who is celebrated as a hero of the Pearl Harbor attack on December 7, 1941. He led his fellow sailors, many of whom were injured, to safety, and he used a machine gun to shoot down Japanese planes. He was the first African American sailor to receive the Navy Cross. Miller died in battle in 1944.
