Biography:
Edgar A. Love was born in Harrisburg, Virginia in 1891. He attended Howard University and was one of the founders of Omega Psi Phi, the first African American fraternity chartered at a historically black college. Following his graduation from Howard, Love attended Boston University and earned a degree in Sacred Theology. He served in World War I as a chaplain, and upon his return from Europe, Love began teaching classes in history and the bible at Morgan College. In 1961, he endorsed a petition requesting executive clemency from President Kennedy for imprisoned civil rights activist, Carl Braden.
