- Biography:
- Civil rights activist, educator, and dean of the Tuskegee Institute. A sociology professor, he served on the faculty of Tuskegee Institute from 1934 until retiring in 1971. In 1941, He founded the Tuskegee Civic Association and served as its president. He was the lead plaintiff in the gerrymandering case, Gomillion v. Lightfoot, which was decided by the Supreme Court in 1960.
