- Biography:
- Glenda Jean Gaither was an eighteen year old student at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina when she was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi for her participation in a Freedom Ride. As part of the Freedom Ride, Gaither and seven others took an Illinois Central train from New Orleans, Louisiana to Jackson, Mississippi where they were arrested on 30 May 1961. Gaither later married fellow Freedom Rider James Keet Davis, Jr.
