- Biography:
- California native and Harvard College student, Ganz registered African Americans during Freedom Summer. Instead of returning to Harvard to complete his degree, he joined Cesar Chavez's effort to organize farm workers. He eventually joined the executive committee of the United Farm Workers. By 1981, he had left the UFW to devote himself to other unions and political campaigns. He completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard in 1991, was awarded an MPA by the Kennedy School in 1993, and completed his PhD in sociology in 2000.
