- Biography:
- White CORE worker arrested along with Ralph Allen, John Perdew, and Donald Harris ("Americus Four") and charged with "seditious conspiracy" (inciting insurrection), a capital crime, in Americus, Georgia and held without bail for three months. The four were released 1 November, 1963 by a three-judge federal panel, who found the charge unconstitutional. A Minnesota native, Aelony was also arrested as a Freedom Rider in Jackson, Mississippi in 1961. He took part in the 1963 "Moore Memorial Trek," an attempt to carry out the Freedom Walk begun by William L. Moore, a white 35-year old Baltimore mail carrier.
