Description:
This digital collection includes calendars, letters, publications, essays, speeches and other papers documenting James T. McCain’s involvement with local and national civil rights organizations. The bulk of the items evidence his interest in local issues such as illiteracy, integration of public schools, and voter turnout in South Carolina’s African American community.

Local television newsfilm collections

Description:
The Local Television News Collections at Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC) comprise approximately 1.5 million feet of 16mm motion picture film outtakes dating from the late 1950s to the early 1980s, donated by several South Carolina television stations. These outtakes document over two decades of local people and events, as well as reportage surrounding significant moments in national and world news throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Paper holdings include teleprompter scripts from 1963 through 1979.
