Description:: The Cleaborn Homes Collection includes interviews with former residents of the Cleaborn Homes housing project in Memphis, Tennessee. Cleaborn Homes were part of Memphis public housing, specifically Foote Homes, which were segregated in the 1960s, and retained a largely African-American population continuing through the 1990s.

Description:: The Local Television News Collections at Moving Image Research Collections (MIRC) comprise approximately 1.5 million feet of 16mm motion picture film outtakes dating from the late 1950s to the early 1980s, donated by several South Carolina television stations. These outtakes document over two decades of local people and events, as well as reportage surrounding significant moments in national and world news throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Paper holdings include teleprompter scripts from 1963 through 1979.

Description:: A Democrat, Carroll Gartin served three terms as Mississippi's Lieutenant Governor (1952-1956, 1956-1960, and 1964-1966). He lost a 1953 campaign against incumbent James O. Eastland for the U.S. Senate and a 1959 race against Ross Barnett to become governor of the state. In 1966, Gartin announced his intention to run for governor again but died of a heart attack in December of that year.

Description:: The Indianapolis School Board of Commissioners voted on a plan to create a segregated high school in 1922 and Crispus Attucks High School opened in 1927 with an enrollment of 1,345 African American students. In addition to its famous 1955 state championship basketball team, Attucks produced many well-known alumni in several professional fields. Attucks flourished as both an academic institution and center for the African American community, and was simultaneously linked with the struggle for civil rights in education. This collection contains photographs and documents relating to the school and its history.
