- Description:
- In 1955 the Crispus Attucks Tigers defeated Gary Roosevelt 97-74, becoming the first Indianapolis team to win the Indiana High School Athletic Association basketball tournament. Attucks was the first undefeated team to win the crown when it won the school's second title in 1956. Ray Crowe coached both teams. The team's third title in four years came under Coach Bill Garrett, who broke the Big Ten color barrier when in 1947 he became the first black student to play basketball for Indiana University.
