- Description:
- From the opening of Crispus Attucks High School, the black community rallied around it. African American newspapers covered the activities of its personnel. Their academic, sports, and general achievements were regularly reported. The hope of a people seemed to parallel the success of the school in many areas. The phenomenal accomplishments of the school's basketball teams during the 1950s fueled school spirit, and more often than not aided race relations. Hoosier Hysteria is obvious as the Crispus Attucks cheerleaders and fans root for the Tigers.
