- Andrew J. Brown, (right) longtime pastor of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis marched with Martin Luther King, Jr. from Selma to Montgomery in 1965. He also headed the Indiana Christian Leadership Conference, the state chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. SCLC, founded by King in 1957, advocated for civil rights.
