- The new housing project for the elderly was at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Paca Street. When completed there would be 107 units. Joining Mayor William Hudnut in the groundbreaking ceremonies from the left: Mayor Hudnut, Floyd Stone, president of M.E.D.I.C., the local neighborhood association; Rudy Hightower, director of the Indianapolis Housing Authority; State Representative Bill Crawford, Rev. Mozel Sanders, and Martha Lamkin, area director for the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
