Description:: Doctor Russell A. Lane, originally an English faculty member, was principal of Crispus Attucks High School from 1930 to 1957. Under Lane’s leadership, the school flourished as both an academic institution and as a center for the African American community. This is a transcript of an interview that was conducted as part of the Crispus Attucks High School Social History Project. The purpose of the project was to document the recollections of former teachers, administrators, and students from Attucks. The project also aimed to uncover some of the challenges faced by those involved with the first years of the school.
