- This photo shows Dora Atkins with classmates, Sophronia Dyer, Aline ?, and Herbert Nelson at Indianapolis Public School #26 in 1910. At this time in Indianapolis, most elementary schools were segregated while high schools were integrated. When Crispus Attucks High School opened in the fall of 1927, all African American students were required to enroll there.
