- Description:
- Calls for: 1) “Immediate withdrawal - bring all troops home now!” 2) “Black control of the black community!” 3) “30 hours work for 40 hours pay - end unemployment!” 4) “Women’s liberation - full equality!” 5) “Red universities - schools to serve the people!” 6) “A socialist America!” Quote from document: “The single most decisive reason for the sharp inflation we experience today is the war in Vietnam. Each year the people of the U.S. pay 40 billion dollars to the war in Vietnam. Broken down, this amounts to 3.3 billion each month, 1.1 hundred million each day, or 4.6 million each hour of the day.” Background information: In 1970, William Massey campaigned for U.S. Senator against Washington incumbent Henry M. Jackson. Massey was defeated. Note on date: 1970 is penciled on document.
