- Oral history.; Interview conducted on March 7, 1991 with Miss Emma Ruth Corban in her home in Meridian, Mississippi.Corban was born in Fayette, Mississippi, on September 18, 1907.She completed a BA degree in English in 1929 and her Masters degree in 1930.Corban taught at Northwest Junior College from 1930 to 1936 and Meridian Junior College from 1936 to 1973.She has served in many professional organizations, including the Mississippi Education Association of which she was president between 1966-1967.After retiring, Corban remained active through community programs and civic organizations.She taught in the Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program in Meridian for eleven years and organized alcohol safety education workshops all over the state.
