- From the Miller (Michael J.) Civil Rights Collection; The booklet is supplementary reading material for one of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee's (SNCC) adult literacy projects. The text combines many excerpts from the Old Testament (Joshua 6: 10-20, Matthew 5: 13-16, Genesis 32: 24-30, Matthew 7: 7-12, Genesis 25: 29-34, Luke 10: 30-37 and 22: 41-44) with interpretive text that compares the Bible stories to civil rights struggles. The text praises civil rights workers and mentions James Chaney, John Goodman, Mickey Schwerner, Herbert Lee, Medgar Evers, Fannie Lou Hamer, Victoria Gray and Annie Devine by name. The booklet is accompanied by instructions and an analysis of adult education techniques.
