- From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Nine-page typewritten document entitled, *Voter Registration Laws in Mississippi: Subversion of the Fifteenth Amendment in Mississippi;* presumably part of the curriculum training materials for Freedom Summer volunteers in Oxford, Ohio, in June 1964. Volunteers attended a two-week training and education course before going to Mississippi for the summer. This document describes legislation passed in Mississippi that was in direct violation of the Fifteenth Amendment, particularly discrimination against African Americans in voter registration practices throughout the state. It also discusses some instances of race-related violence in Mississippi. It appears that one or more pages of the original document are missing.
