Description:: Black and white photograph of firemen hosing crowds during the Chattanooga sit-ins of February 1960. This was taken on the fourth day of protests, Wednesday, February 24, 1960. Around 5:00 pm that day, police in Chattanooga began the notorious fire hose crowd control tactic that is strongly associated with the Civil Rights movement. The name "Wilson" is written on the back referring to the photographer, likely Delmont Wilson of the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
