- Description:
- Black and white photograph police standing in front of a storefront during the Chattanooga sit-ins of February 1960. Police blocked a department store entrance either after the crowd was cleared on Wednesday or before a crowd could arrive on Thursday (which may have been more likely because the streets are notably dry). This appears to have been in front of the W.T. Grant's store. The sidewalk is free of people, until the Burt's Shoes storefront where a crowd gathered. The name "Wilson" is written on the back referring to the photographer, likely Delmont Wilson of the Chattanooga News-Free Press.
