- Description:
- Scenes from the documentary, ''Miracle at Valley Park,'' by filmmaker John Earle Lewis. The film chronicles the experience and challenges in capturing a May 21, 1972 concert by the band The Chambers Brothers at Valley Park (now known as Martin Luther King Jr. Park) in Columbia, South Carolina, an event that Lewis sponsored through his organization New Generation of Columbia. In addition to concert footage, scenes show Lewis's interest in documenting racial tensions at that time, through interviews with The Chambers Brothers and local civil rights activist James Redfern II. Remarks from Lewis's crew and University of South Carolina professor Benjamin Dunlap provide additional context to the event.
