- Description:
- This exchange between Blatt and Tom Turnipseed demonstrates the changing nature of South Carolina politics. Turnipseed was a Democratic state senator who at this time was running for the United States House of Representatives against Republican Floyd Spence. Because Turnipseed was one of the "Young Turk" Democrats who vocally opposed Blatt, Blatt chose not to support him against Spence.
