- Description:
- This folder mainly contains correspondence, from October 6 to December 20, 1948, between Southern Regional Council (SRC) members and their colleagues along with documents covering topics like human rights, program committee involvement and discussion topics, and general SRC chapter and sub-committee updates. Much of the correspondences are between Alice Norwood Spearman Wright, Edwin G. (Edwin Granville) Seibels, George S. Mitchell, James McBride Dabbs, Kenneth G. Phifer, Maxie C. Collins, and Adele J. Minahan. In one letter, Kenneth G. Phifer writes to Margaret Price of the SRC Office in Atlanta stating that his Inter-racial Committee in Rock Hill, South Carolina wishes “to dissolve” and become “a chapter of the SRC.” Within this folder is also a document To the Members of the Democratic National Committee detailing a biennial session of the South Carolina Democratic Party held on May 19, 1948, which went against the National Party.
