- Description:
- A report on South Carolina from James T. McCain to Shirley, Ronnie and Marvin for June 1969. He begins by recounting the election on June 17, 1969 for two new members to the city school board of education for Sumter, SC. Their were three candidates, one of whom was black, James Solomon, acting Deam of Morris College). Unfortunately, Solomon lost by 550 votes. He did not apply early enough for the rest of them to organize enough support for him in the days ahead of the election. He includes two lists of achievements the Williamsburg Voters League has been able to accomplish in the last three years with the help of black voters. Ending with a list of names and address for people who participated in their workshops.
