- Description:
- McCain turned this regular notebook into a daily agenda. Used from December 20, 1957 to November 20, 1958. Starting from the back and working his way to the front, McCain kept detailed notes of his political involvement throughout the year. He met with several representatives and set up voters registration meetings across South Carolina. He kept abreast of local leaders and their efforts to "get folk out to register." He spent a lot of time in Virginia working closely with CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) and NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). In addition, he used this notebook for calculations including recording distance travelled and speedometer tracking when making trips.
