- Description:
- South Carolina Governor Robert McNair at press conference speaking on Orangeburg situation. Speaks on previous night's rioting and injuries (no deaths). Says that this is the most serious civil rights event so far. Says, ""hopes that there will not be an occurrence."" The press conference was most likely filmed on February 7, 1968, and probably refers to the events of February 6, 1968. On February 8, 1968, South Carolina High Patrol officers opened fire on a group of protesters, killing three and wounding at least 27 more.
