County Board of Education, particularly how water from the Santee Hydro-Electric Dam made the road to the African American school impassible. The essay also describes how Dr. George A. Singleton and James Hinton inspired DeLaine to act in the following Clarendon County, South Carolina, school segregation case, also known as Briggs v. Elliott.
