- Description:
- Memorandum sent in October 1965 from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., to the Internal Revenue Service. DeLaine details the history of his farm, called Manigault Place, and other property in Clarendon County, South Carolina, including why he transferred the name of ownership, vandalism to the property, and attempts by "racists" to take away the property, which he calls "the injustice of legal robbery." He asserts the property was paid for in 1944 and calls it an injustice "to take away what we worked for and saved looking out for old age."
