- Description:
- Letter from John H. McCray of Columbia, South Carolina to Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. of Hollis, Long Island, New York regarding the date the school segregation case Brown v. Board of Education was filed. McCray notes the likelihood that the Clarendon County, South Carolina school segregation case, Briggs v. Elliott, was the oldest of the five cases combined under the Brown v. Board of Education case argued before the United States Supreme Court and decided in 1954. The letter is written on Pittsburgh Courier letterhead.
