- Description:
- Letter from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr. of New York, New York, to Sol Berkowitz, also of New York city. DeLaine accepts Berkowitz's support but states his need to avoid any communist affiliation. DeLaine admits to hiding because South Carolina officials, dominated by the White Citizens Councils, have a warrant to extradite him to South Carolina. He also notes that when Berkowitz talks of Hitler and Mussolini he is talking about the same thing as when he is talking about the White Citizens Councils, what DeLaine calls the Ku Klux Klan modernized.
