- Letter from W. M. Manning, superintendent of the South Carolina Penitentiary in Columbia, South Carolina to Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., of Lake City, South Carolina, agreeing to DeLaine's request to bring a group to tour premises. Manning explains that women in the group will not be allowed to go very far inside the wall. In a postscript, Manning reports that the the prison does not have an inmate named David Doudy.
