The letter details grievances against principal S. Isaiah Benson, including misappropriation of funds and neglect of teaching duties. A note handwritten by DeLaine details his election as president of committee and its transformation into second largest branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in South Carolina.
