- Description:
- Letter from Joseph A. DeLaine, Sr., in Summerton, South Carolina, to Harold R. Boulware, in Columbia, South Carolina, regarding the discovery that Levi Pearson lives in the wrong school district and Hammit Bearson's offer to sign onto the school bus transportation case, Pearson v. County Board of Education (1948). DeLaine concedes "I have go out so far until I doubt that anything will save me as a teacher next year ... I doubt that will stop me. It may cause me to fight harder ... I was turned down from registration because my poll tax was not put on my receipt."
