- Photo (Clarendon County, S.C.) of African American school on Spring Hill A.M.E. Church property; typed note on reverse claims church members maintained school until Joseph A. De Laine, Sr. organized Parents' Committee on Action and the Clarendon County (S.C.) School Segregation Case [Briggs v. Elliott]; Circa 1938. On the opposite side is the school building on the Spring Hill A.M.E. Church property, what was kept up by the members of the church before Reverend De Laine organized the Parents at Summerton, in Clarendon County to go to Court for 'Equal Educational Opportunities for All Children.' This school was demolished just before the May 28 Fourth Circuit in Charleston was heard. Now the modern school is built near this site. written on reverse.
