- Description:
- Nine page sermon dated May 19, 1940 and April 22, 1944, based on the Biblical texts Luke 12:20 and John 14:8-9. Part of the sermon is typewritten, and part is handwritten. The first part of the sermon illustrates the parable of the rich fool, and emphasizes that busy people should devote as much time to making a place for faith as for their earthly ambitions, that one should strive towards moral "cleanliness," and that reconciliation brings one closer to God. The second part of the sermon addresses the importance of noting one's imperfections. Focusing upon the apostle Philip, the sermon offers examples of where Philip doubted Jesus, and notes that what may seem mundane about Philip actually carries deep significance in defining the attainment of Christian ideals to a broad group of people.
