- One page of a handwritten speech delivered by South Carolina state senator Isaiah DeQuincey Newman around 1983 that thanks voters from Chester, Fairfield, and Richland counties for electing him; Newman also notes that it is the first time in 95 years that an African American has been elected to serve in the South Carolina state senate.
