- One page of a handwritten speech that describes Southern involvement in the Civil War. The speech begins by referring to the work of journalist Edward Pollard, and continues by asserting that the Civil War was begun by wealthy Southern cotton planters and fought on the Confederate side by poor Southern farmers.
