- An August 1989 oral history interview by William Gravely with Dennis Rampey, who served as County Coroner in 1947 when taxi driver T.W. Brown was attacked and fatally wounded, as well as when the African American man accused of the attack, Willie Earle, was kidnapped from the local jail and lynched. Topics covered in the interview include a hearing conducted over Brown's death, personal connections with defendants of the lynching mob court case, Earle's potential motivation (if he had been the one to attack Brown), the public raising of funds to pay for the defense of the suspected members of the lynch mob, and Rampey's 12 years as County Coroner, as well as his career as a gospel singer and evangelist. A draft transcript and notes are included with the interview.
