- An oral history interview by William Gravely with retired Congressman Robert Ashmore on December 22, 1982, at his law office in Greenville, SC. Topics include Ashmore's previous life experiences and term as county solicitor, differing accounts of the lynching of Willie Earle, and Ashmore's personal perspective of the ensuing legal process and trial of the suspected members of the lynch mob, as well as public perceptions and reactions to both the lynching and the trial. A final transcript of the interview is included.
