- The swimming area at Sesquicentennial State Park is closed because a group of African Americans attempted to enter the park in protest of the State's segregated park facilities. The park, with swimming, fishing, picninc area and trails, is open to whites only. The park was closed for the day when about 20 African Americans tried to gain entry.
