- Members of the South Carolina and national NAACP participate in a commemorative march from Zion Baptist Church to the South Carolina State House on the 25th anniversary of the supreme court Brown vs. Board of Education decision to integrate schools. Columbia was chosen for the location of the march so that plaintiffs from the related Briggs vs. Elliott case, the first school integration case, could participate in the march.
