- Students, religious leaders and members of the South Carolina branch of the NAACP march in downtown Charleston in protest of segregated hotels, lunch counters and other facilities. The marchers began at Morris Street Baptist Church and proceeded down King Street past the Francis Marion Hotel, Kress, and Felder's Rexall Drug store. Here they are on Broad Street at Meeting Street.
