- Description:
- A Confederate flag is raised at the Lexington County Court House to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War. Representative Floyd Spence, president of the Lexington County Historical Society, is at the speaker's podium, and the Lexington High School band is on hand to play 'Dixie' following the flag raising. The South Carolina Confederate Centennial Committee and the Lexington County Historical Society conducted the event, which was reported to be the first Confederate flag raising over a government building in the modern era.
