- Protesters march along the fence at the Columbia Airport awaiting the arrival of Alabama Governor George C. Wallace. Wallace is visiting Columbia as part of a southern tour for unpledged presidential electors to place him on the November ballot as a candidate for U.S. President. Protest signs read "Outside Agitators to South Carolina Unwelcome" and "Hay George! This is 1964 not 1864."
